Project - Dubai Lynx

Outcome - Logo, colour palette and theme for the launch of the Dubai Lynx Middle East And North Africa Advertising Awards. 

Commentary - Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival in association with International Advertising Association UAE Chapter wanted a modern regional look to launch their joint venture Dubai Lynx in March 2007. Dubai Lynx is an advertising awards event held at Dubai Media City which aims to celebrate and inspire the Middle East and North Africa advertising industry. 

After thorough research into regional logos and contemporary and traditional art we formulated a large colour palette, which was then refined to a rich palette of 4 colours. The shape of a caracal’s distinctive ear (also know as the desert lynx) was stylised in a simplified calligraphic look inspired by Iraqi artist Hassan Massoudy’s bold brush strokes. 

The font used is Optima, which was chosen for its elegance that reflected the graceful curves of the logo.
